CCAH and VCARH Merger Announced

New Regionally Based Organization Formed in Fall 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — Leaders of CCAH and VCARH announced that they have merged, forming Mid-Atlantic Council for Affordable Housing. The new organization will serve North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Leaders of the two organizations said because CCAH and VCARH share state borders and most members’ areas of operations overlapped, merging to create one regionally based organization made membership more efficient and cost effective. Combining the organizations ensured greater financial sustainability and created growth and support within the region.

“CCAH and VCARH merged to enhance our presence and influence so that we may better serve our members,” Jeff Holomon, CCAH President, said. “As an organization covering four states, MCAH is ready to coordinate with Rural Development, HUD and Housing Finance Agencies to advocate for member needs and provide up to date information and training.”

All members will benefit from more products, services and educational opportunities at better savings than ever before, Mid-Atlantic CAH leaders say. The new organization will now host one larger Annual Members Conference in the spring, allowing vendors and other affiliates to reach a broader organization.

According to Colleen Fisher, CARH Executive Director, many state affiliated organizations who have members with overlapping territories are combining forces and resources to better serve the needs of affordable housing providers. Fisher also said that it’s becoming quite common to see small regions being represented now and CARH supports this endeavor.

Due to the merger, Mid-Atlantic CAH has also launched a new website with mulitple improvements, including secure online payments for membership dues and conference fees. Members will also be able to access an online membership directory, member resources, and more.
